Growing up, my grandfather, Bill, had a small cabin on a lake where the whole family would gather. We’d meet for Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, or just to be together. At some point, long ago, Bill hung a sign my father had carved for him over the driveway that said “Riverwood”, and any time Bill passed under the sign he would exclaim,“Riiiverwoooood”, in long drawn out syllables. Bill passed some time ago but the sound of his voice coming down that driveway rings clear to this day Riverwood was a place for family. It was a place where life lessons were learned and where traditions were made. I was taught to be a good, honest, hardworking man by my father, John, my Uncle Steve, and my Grandfather Bill. The picture shown to the right is an actual drawing of the cabin my grandfather had completed for my grandmother who loved spending her days on the back porch overlooking the lake. I decided to put the name Riverwood on my business, as opposed to my own name, because Riverwood feels, at least in my mind, bigger than me.
